Youth and Marijuana – A Pine River Perspective

Posted by MarchFifteen & filed under Reflection.

MarchFifteen believes that an organization’s reach extends to, and impacts, the community at large. After all, one of the organizational values we live by at MarchFifteen is “Higher Purpose” – Believing there is no healthy business without a healthy community around it, we play an active role as a responsible corporate citizen, giving back to the community whenever we can. Through giving back, companies can maximize their contribution in significant and meaningful ways, not only within their organizations but also in the communities around them.

In the spirit of community and giving back, Edyta Pacuk and Maria Milanetti contribute as Board members to the Pine River Foundation and Pine River Institute respectively. They support and assist the leadership of these organizations as they pave the way to excellence in helping at risk youth and their families “learn, practice and mature” towards health and wellbeing.

Pine River Institute is the only treatment centre of its kind in Canada, providing leading edge care, and committed to helping adolescents struggling with addictive behaviours. Vaughan Dowie, CEO of Pine River Institute, recently published a Toronto Star article addressing the concerns and potential pitfalls to the marijuana legalization being put forward by the Canadian government.

We invite you to read this thoughtful piece, which can be accessed through the following link:
